Please click here if you are interested in seeing the furnace pressure switches that we sell.If you do not get 24 or more volts with the furnace draft inducer running then you have a pressure switch problem.By this I mean if you touch one terminal of the pressure switch with one lead of your meter, and touch the other lead of your meter to the ground, the bare metal part of your furnace, you should get 24 or more volts (24 to 28 volts).

If you have a two-wire pressure switch with the draft inducer running you should be getting 24 or more volts between both leads to the ground.I always try to touch the other lead of my meter to the furnace’s switch box. The ground would be any bare metal part of your furnace. Probe one lead of the pressure with one lead of your meter while touching the other lead of your meter to the ground. There should be either two or three wires going into your pressure switch.Set your meter to volts AC, turn your furnace on so it is calling for heat. The igniter on most RV propane furnaces needs at least 10.5 Volts to fire properly.Question: How can I test to see if a pressure switch is operating properly? It’s also possible for a wire to become overloaded, and short out or the protective coating is damaged. Sometimes the vibration of driving can rattle a wire loose, or cause a connector to fall out. If your furnace is not starting, you will need to look at the following items: Why does my propane furnace not ignite properly?ĭouble check all of it’s connections and wires.

The spark igniter sends a spark to ignite the flame similar to a manual spark or Piezo in a residential gas grill. What does a spark igniter do on a gas furnace? When the temperature get down to the specified low, the gas valve opens and LP or liquid propane flows through an orifice to the burner assembly. This model does not actually have a “pilot light,” but rather a direct spark ignition (DSI) that ignites the flame. How does the pilot light work on a propane burner? If your furnace isn’t igniting, you’ll first want to check that you have enough propane and that your battery isn’t too low. Your RV propane furnace uses a forced air system that requires both propane and a sufficiently charged battery to function properly. How does a propane furnace in an RV work? When the user opens the hot water tap, the electronics in the tankless unit reacts, allowing the ignition to start, generating the sparks. The gas is coming from the gas supply through the gas line and gas valve. The heat exchanger is located in the combustion chamber, where the main gas burner with the ignition is also placed (below). Where is the ignition on a hot water heater? If they are blue but making a roaring sound and very tall then you have too much pressure. If they are mostly yellow you don’t have enough pressure in your LP gas system. The flames should be mostly blue and almost level with the burner. What are the signs of a bad propane regulator? Step Three: Apply the baking soda slurry to an old toothbrush and carefully scrub away the corroded material. Step Two: Carefully disconnected the connections and wires from the corroded terminal. Step One: Create a slurry mixture of baking soda and water.
